The Best Autumn Of Mine

I'm holding in my fingers a single leaf of hope
the autumn breeze brought it here
it slipped from the Oaks fingers like it didn't want to cope

The autumn breeze is flowing
It wants to run away
From the fact that is showing
that winter wants to come and play

Paint on the canvas colors of golden brown and scarlet red
Then have your work be stolen
All the autumn colors fled
.
Flip another page, in December it will freeze
Set on whitening the color gold
A child with a jump rope standing in the breeze
Slowly watching as frost bites all in natures hold
.
Cover all the leaves
Come play with the winter
See what it conceives
.
And something very lost
Scarlet and brown
Sticking out of the frost
I reach down and pluck a leaf that was embedded it the ground
.
Maybe not all is lost and autumn can still shine
Right now I will treasure it- Pin it on the wall
and claim it the best autumn of mine
